How Often Should I Water New Sod in Cool Weather?

I recently laid some new sod in my yard, but the weather has turned a bi tcooler than expected, I'm trying to figure out how often I should be watering it to ensure it establishes properly.. I know that in hot weather, sod needs more frequent watering, but does the same apply in cooler temperatures?? I’ve read conflicting advice about not overwatering to avoid disease, but I also want to makes ure the roots are getting enough moisture. What’s the ideal watering schedule for new sod when temperatures are cooler ,perhaps in the 50s to 60s? Should I adjust my watering based on rain forecasts? Also, how can I tell if my sod is getting enough water? Any tips on signs of overwatering or underwatering wolud really help. Thanks for your advice!

It sounds like you're taking the right approach with your new sod. In cooler temperatures, like the 50s to 60s, you generally want to water less frequently than in hot weather, but still focus on keeping the soil consistently moist. Aim for about 1 inch of water per week, including rainfall. Adjust your watering based on rain forecasts, and check the soil moisture by digging a small hole to see if it's damp a few inches down. Signs of overwatering include pooling water and a spongy feel to the ground, while underwatering can cause browning and wilting. How long has the sod been down?
